The collection and analysis of the presence of bertsolaritza in the historical press, radio, cinema, television and the Internet has been the starting point for this thesis. Biographies and contributions from eight generations of bertsolaris have been included in the narrative. And all this in the context of the evolution of popular culture in Europe. The end result is an extensive review of a completely unique cultural evolution, a beautiful testament to the life force of the subaltern voice.
The Azkue Library and Archive serves Euskaltzaindia. It is also open to all researchers and it aims to foster research and support the distribution of Basque cultural issues as far as it is able.
