COM. LING.- Referente al nombre propio Estebe o Esteben 'Esteban', más -(n)ea. Aunque la forma vasca de este nombre propio es Eztebe o Estebe [MICH. AV, nº 189 y 233 y SHLV II, p. 587], el propio MICH. [SHLV II, p. 587] señala que LEIÇARRAGA escribe Esteben [LEIÇARRAGA, J. Testamentu Berria, Reed. por Euskaltzaindia, Bilbao, 1990, p. 713 y 1390]. Se comprueba, además, que dicha forma es utilizada por otros autores, así p. ej. junto a Jondoni Estebe se da la forma Jondoni Esteben [GUILLAUME DE LAVIEUXVILLE-HAROSTEGUY, P. Bayonaco diocesaco bi-garren catichima, 1733, Reed. por Euskaltzaindia, Gasteiz, 1985, p. 84], y HARANEDER utiliza normalmente la forma Esteben, aunque en alguna ocasión haga uso de Esteban [HARANEDER, J. Jesu Christoren Evangelio Saindua, 1740, Reed. por Euskaltzaindia, Bilbao, 1990, p. 235 y 236]. IRIG. aporta las formas Esteuen, Steuen, Estauan y Esteue atestiguadas en la documentación navarra del siglo XIV [IRIG. PIENE, p. 49].
