At the end of the 19th century, in November 1891, a book entitled, Erroma eta Jerusalem was published in Bayonne. The author was the Basque writer and missionary Martin Ducq, from the Hazparne missionary base. As its title suggests, the book was a travel diary: the author gave an account of a journey, or more precisely a pilgrimage, to Rome and Jerusalem. In this edition, Kaltzakorta has analysed the book's content, adding numerous philological notes and writing a preface to explain its characteristics.
The Azkue Library and Archive serves Euskaltzaindia. It is also open to all researchers and it aims to foster research and support the distribution of Basque cultural issues as far as it is able.
