A.6 Onomastics
Onomastics is the study of people's given names and surnames and of place names, both in the Basque Country and elsewhere.
In the onomastics field, Euskaltzaindia sets rules, prepares, fixes or supervises nomenclatures of all kinds and issues decisions and certifications, as well as performing advisory functions.

The Azkue Library and Archive serves Euskaltzaindia. It is also open to all researchers and it aims to foster research and support the distribution of Basque cultural issues as far as it is able.
